Spotify invite via Twitter or Jaiku
I’ve talked about Spotify before. It’s simply the reason I no longer have any music stored on my computer. You heard it right: No more music stored locally on my computer.
What Spotify did to convince me to take this step was to really start to compete with file sharing. Spotify does just that, but manages to do it in a way that pays artists. This is how:
- A massive collection of music: They understood that you need to be able to get everything you ever want. That strange song your mother sang to you when you were five? Although P2P networks might have forgot about it, Spotify has not.
- Speed: If you get a music urge you shouldn’t have to wait for it to download. It needs to start right away. In Spotify, you search for the song you want, and click it. The music starts to play instantly. Yep, it should be that easy.
- Pays artists: Everyone downloading copyrighted music from artists that they like, have felt that little sting of “I should really have paid for this“. Good artists, that make music I really like, should be paid, it’s as easy as that. Spotify does this.
So, how do you get ahold of a Spotify account? Well, you get an invite from someone that has one. That one is me, and I have 20 invites 8 invites No invites left to share.
Sorry people, I have no more invites left, thanks for playing!
If you want an invite, just post a message on twitter or jaiku, and say you want one, and comment here with your e-mail and twitter/jaiku-link. I will give the first 20 an invite through the mail supplied in the comments. My nick is EmilStenstrom.
Let the microblogging spotify madness begin!

@Peter: Yeah, be too. On a fixed price data connection spotify would be great. I’m hoping the rumors of a s60 version comes true.
@Stuart: You’re invited!
@Peter von Stöckel: Ok, I’ll make an exception, but I expect you to be very thankful :)

Many thanks Emil, but boo-hoo: Spotify says, “Spotify free is not available in your country” :(
Oh well, I’ll send them an email and wait, as it looks pretty good (I just want to try the free version first!)
Emil Stenström (605 comments) ( 8 Dec 2008 )
@Jimmy: Invitation sent.

Hi
Pessimism would tell me that the chance of you having any more invites is slim. But optimism is unbounded.
Or, perhaps some of the people to whom you gave invites, have invites???
I am at twitter.com/photographworks
You can reach me at canispotify@me.com
Many thanks in advance, season’s greetings, and don’t forget the dog.

Tack så mycket!!!!
Emil Stenström (605 comments) ( 10 Jan 2009 )
@All: Share service is up and running again, and I’ve made sure to use the 8 invites I had, plus 4 that did get used in the last batch. This means that everyone before “Niclas Nilsson – 31 Dec 2008″ should have gotten an invite to the email adress supplied. Have fun! To the rest of you, sorry! (But I’ll continue down the list if I get a hold of more invites, or if any of the above invites doesn’t get used the next comming days).

Thanks to you!!!
Lewis Litanzios (15 comments) ( 31 Jan 2009 )
I used Spotify for about five minutes. Interesting idea, but you need the likes of Soulseek and Last.fm in order to really explore music. Otherwise you just end up listening to the same stuff all the time.
Every time I sit down at my machine I’m listening to new stuff. This wouldn’t happen with Spotify.
Trust me, I should be a music exec (http://www.last.fm/user/ldexterldesign).
Emil Stenström (605 comments) ( 31 Jan 2009 )
@Lewis Litanzios: I agree with you, I would like a much more elaborate recommendations. There is a small box on the start page with “artists you may like”, but that’s far from enough. I still use Spotify though, and use the radio feature to get varied music instead.
